Rail-fan Pictures in Bartlett NH

This is a section of the former Maine Central Mountain Division that is now run by the Conway Scenic Railroad (CSRX). Bartlett was the base for the Mountain division helpers and had 3 stations over the years. The surviving one is a converted freight shed that had a diesel engine house in one end. The round house had it's turntable removed to accommodate several 2-6-6-2 articulated engines that were assigned to the task of helper service up through Crawford Notch, and a wye was installed to turn the engines instead.

The station, at 76 Albany Ave, 44°04'35.7"N 71°16'54.6"W, and round house, at 1395 Main St, 44°04'36.2"N 71°17'14.6"W are still there and the Conway Scenic Railroad runs an excursion to Bartlett and back to North Conway. Also, the trips up the notch must pass by here.

Check the other places in Bartlett page for places with only a few pictures.
